1 attended the first rally organised by the Museum de Mecanique Naturelle,
in Giverny, near Paris, France on 16-17 September 2006.
It was held in a meadow near the museum, located
in the centre of Giverny, which is only 10 minutes’ walk from Monet’s House and Gardens.
Exhibitors came from France, Belgium and Holland.
On the Saturday evening drinks were served at the museum
giving us a chance to see the fine collection of engines held there.
On Sunday morning, everyone gathered at nine o’clock
for a visit to the former Singer Sewing Machine factory ;
a 15 minutes drive away at Bonnieres-sur-Seine,
where the friends of the museum are restoring
the old steam powered electricity generating station
which used to supply the factory.
It was then back to the rally field in time to open to the public at 10
o’clock.
This was followed by dinner for all the exhibitors at the
Hotel Baudy, located next to the rally site.
This was a small and friendly event in a very attractive location, and is planned
again for 2007.
